How Quick Are You to Give Your Opinion?

It takes time, and sometimes bold courage to ask questions! It can seem much easier to give answers, provide solutions or make sure my opinion is heard. But, I know my Father delights in taking me on a journey and around the same path over and over again, if necessary so that I can grow and develop and understand Him more.

I need to offer that same grace and love to others around me. It’s tempting at times to want answers and to skip the necessary work or cut corners to get an outcome.

Proverbs 18:2 is a sober reminder, “Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.” NIV; and the ESV says “but only in expressing his opinion.”

I remind myself often to find a different way, rather than expressing my opinion or providing a ‘quick fix' to people that I talk to.

The art of good conversation is to listen, ask questions, and for those engaged in the conversation to feel mutually loved, valued, and all the richer for having had the encounter.

I’m not always afforded the same grace with the people I talk to, so how much more do I need to ask God to give me the strength to hold fast to His teaching no matter the outcome?!
