Your Words Have the Power to Set People Free This Christmas

I’ve heard this said often, “If you don’t forgive then you are allowing that person to live rent-free in your head”. While it’s true, it’s a very me-focused statement. What if we were to ask ourselves, what detriment does it have to the other person?

Robin and I read the Bible together every day, a few weeks back our reading was very special. We ended up getting stuck on this verse;

If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld. John 20:23

Wow! We ended up stopping and asked God to show us if there was anyone in our lives that we had not forgiven. God showed us, people, so we talked to God honestly, forgiving those people for what they had done to us, and asking for forgiveness where we had held on to the hurt. It was a precious time.

Forgiveness is hard to do sometimes and it can take time, but it’s so important to be quick to forgive. Do you want to pause today and ask God the same question?

Your words could give freedom to someone this Christmas.

Thanks for your encouragement, support, and prayers over the year. Praying for each one of you, that you will be filled with joy and peace and the ability to pass this on to others, as you celebrate this season and take time out with family and friends over the Christmas break.
